Fera – Episode 9: Fitting the New Pane

📘 Fera – Episode 9: Fitting the New Pane

🏠 Even from inside the same room, the view outside can change.

Today, after many years, a new glass pane is being fitted into the old window. The wooden frame always had cracks, let rainwater seep in, and whistled in winter winds. Still, I never thought of replacing it. That window was an eye—through which I saw time move.

Now a new pane arrives—clear, polished.
Perhaps fewer sounds will come in now,
perhaps the wild creepers will no longer slap the frame during storms.

But the wood remains the same.
It holds fingerprints of my childhood,
fog from breath on cold nights,
and invisible ink from letters once penned by the window’s light.

I sit quietly and think—
Returning isn’t always going back. Sometimes, it means learning to see clearly through new glass, while still holding the old frame’s warmth.
